Poem 'Threnody for Two Dead Children II'

Threnody for Two Dead Children II

I have made you
and you have made me mad with grief
I have become a beggar, searching the world
for the small pieces of you.
I have lost you but have never known you,
have never seen you, touched you.
I have no rights, no claim,
you are not mine.
But I am stricken.
I am mad with grief.
I have lost you and will never
know you.
